iO Controls MUA Make-Up Air Damper Kits
The MUA make-up air damper kit comes with an adjustable static pressure sensor that allows the contractor to calibrate when the make-up air damper opens, eliminating excessive unconditioned air in the home. The make-up air damper safely equalizes pressure within the home keeping unwanted and harmful gases from entering the living space due to negative pressure caused by exhaust fans. Includes PO/SC damper, pressure switch, and 20VA transformer.
Features and Benefits:
• Adjustable sensor which allows for outside air to be introduced when necessary to meet code requirements
• Safely equalizes pressure within the living space
• Adjustable static pressure sensor/switch from .08" - 1.20" WC
• Multiple dampers can be chained together for high volume situations
• Ensures exhaust fan operates at optimal capacity
• Warranty: 5 years on damper, 1 year on controls

#1 | Q: Are there any disadvantages to installing the IO Controls MUA-08 Make-up Air system vs. the units with an in-line EC fan triggered by hood liner fan switch? My current plan is to install an HL36 hood liner, with RVF 8XL exterior EC fan, EC-10VHL, RSK 8 backdraft damper and a CSL-90-8 elbow silencer along with the IO controls MUA-08 directly connected to a register. This seems to be the most cost effective Make up Air / Remote hood exhaust fan system? Assume that no in-line fan is required on the MUA-08 since the negative pressure will pull air in when the damper is opened? Any input / suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks. A: The MUA-08 (with no fan) is certainly the most cost effective solution for meeting code requirements. The powered systems are much better at keeping the home at a perfect neutral pressure balance. With no fan your home will be at a slight negative pressure balance. Its a tradeoff. Your fan/hood/silencer setup is well selected. Asked on 2023-10-12 by Terry |
