S&P SIL Series Inline Duct Silencers
The galvanized SIL Series steel silencer is used for kitchen range hood ventilation and other applications where noise is a concern. The S&P silencer reduces the "actual" sound level of the kitchen ventilation system by 50% or more.
They feature rubber seals on the inlet and outlet.

#1 | Q: Can you put two of these together to reduce noise further? Also how does this differ from the Fantech LD Silencers? Is there a reason to use one over the other? A: Yes, you will get additional noise attenuation when you have 2 in series. These are very similar to the Fantech one. Asked on 2023-10-18 by Adrian |

#2 | Q: What is the cfm range for each size? A: There is no specified CFM range by the manufacturer. The inside diameter of the silencer is nearly the same as the duct it connects to. You can treat it as part of your duct for CFM and pressure drop calculations. Asked on 2021-10-28 by Jay |
#3 | Q: Is there a mounting option/accessory available to mount this vertically? What is the recommended way to hang this vertically? The SIL-250 is almost 29lbs, so it would definitely need to be supported using metal straps. A: No official accessory or recommendation from the manufacturer. We see these normally hung using regular metal strapping. You can use sheet metal screws to attach it to the casing. Asked on 2021-03-22 by Shashank |
#4 | Q: where should this device be located? A: It has to be placed between the fan and the hood (kitchen). Closer or further away from the fan is not important. Asked on 2015-10-09 by jason |
